Special Silver Cross

The mother of a dead soldier will receive the Silver Cross this week….but this one is very different.

22 year old Corporal Justin Stark was a reservist with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada. Stark committed suicide about ten months after he returned home from a 7 month deployment in Afghanistan in 2011.

A board of inquiry initially concluded two years ago his tour in Afghanistan did not contribute to PTSD and his death…but DND has since ruled his death was related to his military service. So his mother will be given the Memorial Cross Saturday.
