Beer battle update
A judge has reserved decision on whether an appeal of the cross-border beer case should skip directly to the NB Court of Appeal.
Provincial government lawyers want to appeal the April ruling that saw a judge toss out the case against Gerard Comeau, who was charged with bringing in illegal amounts of beer from Quebec. The judge called the law unconstitutional.
This case could have major implications for other interprovincial trade and will likely end up in the Supreme Court of Canada.
