No more embassies for embassy row

There won’t be any new embassies going up on embassy row in Ottawa.

The government has banned construction of new embassies on Sussex Drive after an assessment by the RCMP. It pointed out the potential for violent events. The RCMP did a detailed assessment of how construction of the new embassies would affect existing embassies and Canadian Government buildings in the neighbourhood.
