3 provinces want to intervene in Oland bail appeal
Three provinces want a say in the Dennis Oland bail appeal.
Ontario’s Attorney General, who is joined by Alberta and B-C, says the public expects murder sentences to be enforced and bail should only be considered when there are very strong grounds for an appeal.
Oland’s lawyers are fighting the requests for intervenor status from the three provinces saying they would essentially be ganging up on Oland. His lawyers don’t oppose an application from the Criminal Lawyers Association of Ontario, which says there needs to be more clarity in the bail-granting process.
