American admits to trying to cross into NB via river

An American faces two months in jail for trying to cross into New Brunswick on an air mattress.

John Bennett told police he tried to cross at Calais-St. Stephen on Wednesday by land, but was denied entry. So he went to Walmart, bought an air mattress, blew it up and tried to float across the St. Croix River. He pleaded guilty, and apparently did it because he was worried about his pregnant Canadian girlfriend.
