Tunnel collapse at potash mine

An underground portion on the Picadilly potash mine collapsed in late August but the mine’s management says they were prepared for it and no one was hurt.

PotashCorp told the Kings County Record the problems with area of underground roadway that collapsed had been identified and the area was barricaded off when it caved in. Since the closure, crews looking after maintenance during the shutdown period have been reduced to 35 full-time employees.
