DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nEvent by Orienteering New Brunswick\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCentennial Park (Moncton)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn out of this world line-O event!\n\nA line-O is staged in much the same way as cross-county orienteering in term of maps\, starting intervals\, etc.\, but there is one major difference; NO controls are marked on the map\, only the route. The competitor follows the route as carefully as possible over the terrain. There will be draw prizes\, a UFO-themed photo booth\, and the event fee has been reduced to $5 per person or $15 maximum for a family.\n\nIf new to the sport Centennial Park is a good venue for trying it out. Go solo or in a team. There will also be volunteers to help you get started.\n\nMeet type\nLine-O with score-O style scoring (Follow the route and find as many controls on the course as possible – 1 point per control). All courses will be primarily on trails.\n\nCourses\nBeginner course (1500 m): Recommended for beginners. The course will progressively increase in the level of challenge.Short course (2.5 km): Minimum orienteering experience required. There will be some more challenging terrain.Long course (5 km): A physical course with more elevation gain. This course will be a fun challenge for experienced orienteers.\n\nMap\nThe map will be provided at the onsite registration.\n\nEquipment\nWhistleCompass\n\nElectronic timing equipment\nElectronic timing equipment will be used. If you do not have a SportIdent unit it will be provided at no cost (if lost a $50 charge will apply).\n\nTerrain\nThe park has a complex trail network and an un-crossable creek with 6 bridges. Good visibility in the woods. Possibly wet in the fall.\n\nFees\nTwo methods of payment.\n1. Cash payment: Fees will be collected at the meet site\, cash only or\,\n2. Interact e- Transfer: Paid by Interact e-Transfer® to: hm@orienteeringnb.ca\nAdults\n$5\nJuniors (under 21)\n$5\nFamily Maximum\n$15\n\nRegistration\nPre-registration is required to help the organizers prepare sufficient material. Look for the ORIENTEERING banner.\nSchedule\n11:00 – 11:45 am: Onsite registration.\n11:45: Briefing.\n12:00: First start (One-minute intervals between starts).\n15:30 pm: All the courses will be closed.\n16:00 pm: Closing remarks.\nDirections\nTake the main entrance for Centennial Park swimming pool across from Dickson Blvd. on St. George Blvd. Continue on foot about 300 m Northeast to the playground – look for the ORIENTEERING banner.\n\n\n
