DESCRIPTION:Paddles up for the Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival\, returning to Jones Lake this Friday & Saturday\, June 2nd & 3rd!! \nThe Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival is the principal fundraiser for the Lions Sick Children’s Fund\, supporting children and families throughout the tri-community. Each year\, teams from local high schools\, businesses\, community groups\, and neighbourhoods are challenged to come together to raise money for this worthy cause. What is unique about our festival is that teams can also designate 40% of the funds they raise to a charity of their own choice! Over $1.8 million raised through this event has gone to support not only the Lions Sick Children’s Fund\, but over 70 other charities in the Greater Moncton Area! \n​Other charities supported by the Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival include the United Way\, Friends of the Moncton Hospital\, the Cancer Society\, Breast Cancer Research\, the Tree of Hope\, the YMCA\, local breakfast programs and many\, many more. \nGet involved\, register\, and support your favourite charity and the Lions Sick Children’s Fund today! \n\nHigh School teams race on Friday afternoon\, beginning at about 3pm and finishing before sunset.\nCorporate & Community teams take to the water early Saturday morning\, starting at about 9am and racing until 3pm.\n\nEvent info\, donate online & more: Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival \nNOTE: The City of Moncton wishes to advise the motoring public of delays or detours in the following areas to accommodate the Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival: \n\nFrom 7 a.m. on Friday\, June 2 until 6 p.m. on Saturday\, June 3:\n\nA full closure of Parlee Drive from Burlington Avenue to Greenwood Drive\n\n\nFrom 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday\, June 2:\n\nA full closure of Greenwood Drive from Burlington Avenue to Parlee Drive\nA full closure of Parlee Drive from Burlington Avenue to Woodland Drive\n\n\nFrom 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday\, June 3:\n\nA full closure of Greenwood Drive from Burlington Avenue to Parlee Drive\nA full closure of Parlee Drive from Burlington Avenue to Woodland Drive\n\n\n\n \n
