This Weekend on Casey Kasem’s Top 40 Countdown
Saturday’s 80’s Countdown: AUGUST 8, 1987
8 am – noon
1987 was the year Ronald Reagan gave his famous speech in Berlin, where he said “Tear this wall down.” The Simpsons were seen for the first time, and big TV shows included The Cosby Show, Cheers and Magnum PI. In the summer of 1987, Casey’s Top 40 countdown included songs by U2 and George Michael.
Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: AUGUST 11, 1973
8 am – 11 am
Oh, the good old days! In 1973 the average price for a new home was $32,000. You could buy a new AMC Javelin for $2,900 and a dozen eggs went for 25 cents. Of course, on the downside, we didn’t make as much money then as we do now. Pink Floyd and Gilbert O’Sullivan were two of the musical artists featured in Casey’s countdown from this week in 1973.
