Former priest pleads guilty to molesting children

A former priest from Shediac has pleaded guilty to nine charges relating to the sexual abuse of minors, according to the Times and Transcript.

Yvon Arsenault admitted to all nine charges of child molestation between 1971 and 1980. Ten other charges were dropped by the crown which is working with the defence on a joint sentencing recommendation. Arsenault will be back in court February 24th for a sentencing hearing when victims will be able to read impact statements.

Arsenault, who served in Moncton, Shediac, Bouctouche, Dorchester and other communities, was suspended by the Archdiocese in January of 2013.
