Could Take Week to Remove Excavator that Fell Through Covered Bridge
It could be a week before an excavator that fell through a covered bridge near Quispamsis can be removed. The overweight construction vehicle fell through the Hammond River Number 2 bridge on Wednesday. The Department of Transportation tells the CBC they have to come up with a plan to stabilize the bridge before the excavator can be removed. The 102 year-old bridge has a posted weight limit of 12 tons. Them excavator that fell through the bridge has manufacturer listed weight of 13 tons and the was reportedly carrying a heavy load when the incident occurred.
