Garbage bag changes

Changes are coming to the trash pickup system in a month.

Residents of Metro Moncton, 14 other muncipaties and six local service districts will be moving to a three bag system for garbage.

The Southeast Regional Service Commission says the transition should go smoothly and the new system will be more flexible and accommodating than in 1999 when we went to the two bag syste.  Starting October 17th, residents will have to put their trash out in three bags…the current blue bag for recyclable materials; the Green bag for organics; and other garbage that doesn’t fit into the first two will go into a clear bag.
