Moncton council wants another look at salaries
Moncton City Council wants to revisit the salary issue.
Just before last May’s municipal elections, councilors voted down recommendations for a substantial increase in salaries for the Mayor and council. Yesterday, the Times and Transcript reports councillors held a close door meeting to discuss it and came out asking staff for a report on revisiting the compensation issue at its September 6th meeting.
The initial proposal was to boost the Mayor’s salary to almost $84,000 from less than $70,000. Councillors wages would go from $24,789 to $33,494.
